While I sympathise with Paul Buchanan’s vision of a future when “land use, development and economic growth are key outputs of transport appraisal” (Letters LTT 28 Oct), I’m not sure that user benefits can so easily be dismissed as he suggests; and I am certainly not clear that reducing transport demand is universally desirable.
