Contactless technology won’t kill-off the paper ticket

I would warmly congratulate Stagecoach on its decision to fit all its buses with ticket machines capable of reading contactless credit and debit cards (‘Stagecoach launches contactless ticketing’ LTT 28 Oct). But I would assume that, unless a route has a ‘flat fare’, a ticket will still be issued to the passenger.

I have travelled quite extensively on Swedish buses and on a number of occasions I have paid my fare using my British credit card. In most parts of Sweden...
