Longer lorry trial expanded

The DfT is expanding a trial of longer lorry semi-trailers, with a further 1,000 to be permitted on roads across Great Britain. 

A ten-year trial was launched in 2012, whereby up to 1,800 longer semi-trailers were permitted on the roads. The trial involves semi-trailers of 14.6 metres and 15.65 metres in length – up to 2.05 metres longer than the traditional 13.6 metre limit.
