The Highlands and Islands transport partnership (HITRANS) has commissioned a study into the value of rural transport.
The report is being prepared by transport economist James Laird, who has just set up the consultancy Peak Economics, having left his position as a senior research fellow at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds (he retains a visiting research fellow post there).
