Taxi driver who assaulted parking attendant receives suspended sentence

A taxi driver who attacked a parking attendant outside a Carlisle hospital has received a suspended jail sentence and lost his taxi licence. Wayne Hewitson assaulted a parking attendant outside Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary last December. 

The attendant was patrolling the hospitals drop-off zone outside the main entrance at about 9.10pm when Hewitson’s taxi pulled up. The attendant photographed the car, which is normal procedure.
