A complete ban on traffic travelling along Oxford Street will deliver far greater public realm benefits than partial traffic removal, according to Transport for London.

London mayor Sadiq Khan has made improving the street’s public realm a priority for his mayoral term. Before the election he pledged to pedestrianise the street but this is now regarded as impossible to deliver, partly because of a need to maintain north-south vehicular movement across the east-west street.
