The Uckfield branch line in East Sussex should be electrified as a pilot project for a new way of funding and delivering rail enhancements, rail manager Chris Gibb has told the Government.

The 25-mile Uckfield branch is one of the few remaining unelectrified parts of the rail network south of the Thames.
