Councillors in Middlesbrough are calling on the Tees Valley Combined Authority to introduce bus franchising. 

The recommendation features in a report of Middlesbrough’s economic development and scrutiny panel, chaired by Labour member Matthew Storey, and presented to the council’s executive last week. 

Middlesbrough is run by Labour elected mayor Dave Budd and the town’s MP is Andy McDonald, the shadow transport secretary, who is a champion of franchising. Labour...
