Drones law to impose height and airport boundary limits

Patrick McDonnell
05 June 2018

New legislation will be introduced next month to prohibit drones from flying above 400ft and within 1km of airport boundaries. The government is introducing height limits to help make sure drones are used safely as the sector grows.

The changes will come into effect on 30 July 2018. Limits around airports are being tightened up with new restrictions to prevent drones from causing harm.

Owners will have to register their drones and take online safety tests to improve accountability.
