Heavy load for FTA as urban freight policies gather pace

Road freight operators are facing a multitude of new regulations aimed at improving their environmental and road safety performance. Natalie Chapman, the Freight Transport Association’s head of urban policy and the South of England, tells Geoff Dudley about the challenges

Clean air zones and low emission zones, safer lorry schemes, alternative fuels, Brexit... Central and local government is presenting the road freight sector with a plateful of policy challenges, making life busy for industry bodies such as the Freight Transport Association. “The workload is certainly increasing greatly, particularly in the areas of the environment and Brexit,” says Natalie Chapman, the FTA’s head of urban policy and the South of England.
