Technical breakdown hits ticketing apps

TICKETING

14 September 2018

Transport ticketing Apps across the UK have been hit by a technical fault at software developer CoreThree.

First, Transport for Greater Manchester, Lothian Buses, and McGills are among those affected, with users reporting being unable to see their accounts or tickets already purchased – particularly at peak times.

A TfGM spokesman said: “This is a nationwide technical fault affecting the back office systems of TfGM’s supplier Corethree, who developed and manage the ‘get me there’ and other mobile ticketing apps, which are experiencing similar problems.” TfGM is advising people not to buy tickets using its app at peak times.

An operator told LTT: “The problems are primarily triggered by high peak demand. It’s being progressively resolved, but is not a quick fix.”

Some customers have had to purchase additional tickets to make their journeys.

Speculation about the cause of the problem includes a lack of bandwidth or other data processing issues.
