Legislation committing the UK to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 has been passed into law. 

No opposition was voiced to the secondary legislation during a 90-minute debate in the House of Commons, but criticisms were made in the House of Lords.

The Statutory Instrument (SI) amends the Climate Change Act 2008, replacing the 80 per cent emissions reduction target by 2050 (against 1990 levels) with a net zero target. It has been fast-tracked by outgoing Prime Minister...
