All-lane running findings alarm AA

The AA has raised more concerns about the safety of all-lane running (ALR) sections of motorway after uncovering a Highways England report that found it took an average of 17 minutes to detect a broken down vehicle in a live lane if there was no stationary vehicle detection (SVD)  equipment.

The figure comes from a 2016 report into the all-lane running scheme between junctions 25 and 26 of the M25.
