Communities secretary Robert Jenrick has intervened in a planning dispute that could yet see the Government withdraw £218m of grant funding for new roads around the south Oxfordshire town of Didcot, and jeopardise a further £150m for road and rail projects in the county.

Jenrick this month placed a direction on South Oxfordshire District Council, preventing it from making a decision on whether to withdraw its emerging local plan from a public examination.
