Aberdeenshire ends free charging

Aberdeenshire Council is to start charging motorists for using its network of publicly accessible electric vehicle charging points. 

About 25,000 charging events have taken place at Aberdeenshire’s charge points in the last 12 months, costing the council £36,847 for electricity. 

From next April drivers will pay 21p per kWh, the charge comprising 16p for electricity and 5p for administration and transaction costs. No maintenance charge will apply – the current...
