The development of all-electric buses hits two problems. Firstly, the energy density of batteries is sufficiently low to mean that the weight of batteries to hold a full day’s energy becomes prohibitive. Furthermore, top-up charges during the working day present charging infrastructure issues and bus operators lose revenue earning time while vehicles are charged.
