The Government’s proposal to phase-out the sale of new new petrol and diesel cars and vans could be extended to cover hybrid vehicles, ministers announced this week.
A consultation will propose bringing forward the phase out date for new petrol and diesel cars and vans from 2040 to 2035 and even earlier “if a faster transition is feasible”. For the first time the Government proposed this week that the phase-out would apply to hybrid vehicles too.
