Parking permit fee tied to bus fares

22 August 2020

The London Borough of Brent is to formally align the price of daily visitor parking permits in controlled parking zones (CPZs) to the capital’s bus fares. An informal link has operated since 2016 when visitor parking permit charges were introduced in CPZs at £1.50 for up to two hours, £3 for up to four hours, and £4.50 for ‘all-day’. Since 2016 London mayor Sadiq Khan has held the price of bus fares at £1.50 for a single and £4.50 as the daily cap. “The link will ensure that there is no price incentive to travel by private vehicle rather than use public transport,” said Brent officers. Bus fares in the capital are due to rise next January.
