The DfT has agreed termination fees with FirstGroup for the South Western Railway (SWR) and Avanti West Coast franchises. In September announced the end of franchising, with companies instead operating under Emergency Recovery Measures Agreements (LTT 2 Oct).
The SWR ERMA will run until the end of March 2021, while the ERMA for Avanti is in place to the end of March 2022. Both agreements can be extended by the DfT by six months.
