The Isle of Wight Council has appointed consultants to investigate the reopening of the railways to Newport and Ventnor.
The Centre for Economics and Business Research, in partnership with Ricardo Rail and Connected Economics, will prepare a strategic outline business case for the proposals.
The work is being funded by the council’s funding award from the DfT’s Restoring Your Railway fund.
