The government should prepare a roadmap for eliminating carbon dioxide emissions from the UK car fleet, says the National Audit Office.
Last November the Prime Minister announced his ambition to stop the sale of new cars powered solely by petrol or diesel by 2030. From 2035, only zero-emission cars will be sold.
In a report about decarbonising the car fleet, the NAO recommends the Government sets “carbon milestones” for eliminating CO2 emissions from cars by 2050.
