The Scottish Government is looking into chartering an additional ferry for the Stornoway to Ullapool route, amid mounting complaints about travel difficulties as staycationers flock to the Highlands and Islands. A relief ferry for Mull was introduced on 15 July, and operator CalMac advised the public not to make day trips to the island.
