The East Midlands is the lowest funded region per head for transport in the UK, and this must be urgently addressed by chancellor Rishi Sunak in his Spending Review on 27 October, Transport for the East Midlands (TfEM) has stated.
Data published in the Treasury’s Public Expenditure Survey Analysis (PESA) in July 2021 revealed that transport funding in the region has declined over the last 20 years to just 58% of the UK average.
