COP26 was an opportunity for the UK Government to demonstrate its international credentials in the push to zero carbon economies. In transport, the national leadership which has been evident on bringing forward the phase out dates of internal combustion engine cars and vans was used to leverage a wider international agreement, including on heavy goods vehicles beyond 2040.
