A request by Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham for the conurbation’s Clean Air Zone (CAZ) to initially be non-charging has been rejected by the Government. However, it has agreed for the start of the CAZ to be delayed by a month to early July. Also, the deadline for the scheme to reach the compliant air quality level has been moved by two years to 2026.
