The UK government will not review the current rate of VAT applied to electric vehicle (EV) charging across the UK, despite calls from the automotive and EV infrastructure sectors for existing tax policy to change.

HM Treasury has rejected the idea of bringing VAT on electricity charged to drivers using public electric vehicle charge points into line with that charged to those charging up a home.
