Thomas Schäfer has been named as the new leader of Volkswagen.
Schäfer becomes chief operating officer of the Volkswagen brand, effective from 1 April, and will take over as chairman of the Volkswagen brand from 1 July. He will also join the group board of management as the member responsible for the ‘volume’ brand group.
