Loughborough University is to stop running its undergraduate transport management and air transport management degrees due to falling demand when the final cohort graduates next July. They are being replaced with a new urban planning degree. Elements of the courses, including transport planning and policy, will be incorporated into the programme which was launched by the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering two years ago.
Transport management courses have been offered at Loughborough University since 1972. Although the transport management and air transport management degrees are to end, transport research and transport PhD programmes will continue, with more than 50 research staff and PhD students currently involved in researching various aspects of transport across the university including road safety, autonomous vehicles, transport futures, public transport operations and railway engineering. A new MSc degree combining elements of urban planning and transport will also be launched in October 2024.
