Rural local authorities were “set up to fail” by the government in making Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) competitive submissions, with a lack of guidance on expectations for bus services in rural areas, the Transport Select Committee heard in a final evidence session in its bus inquiry, on which its report is expected to appear soon.
