Richard Cairns and Carolyn Griffiths have been made non-executive directors to the Board of Scottish Rail Holdings.
Cairns has become interim chair for 15 months, replacing Gareth Llewellyn, whose one-year appointment ended on 31 March 2023.
Llewellyn has over 30 years’ experience in the field of economic development and has worked in both the public and private sectors in Scotland, across the UK and EU, and in Australia. His most recent post was strategic advisor to the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Region for Clyde Mission.
Carolyn Griffiths will be a non-executive director for 18 months. She will also chair ScotRail’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee.
She has worked in the rail industry since 1979, and among her roles she was the founding chief inspector of the Rail Accident and Investigation Branch, senior vice President of Adtranz and non-executive director of the Board of Irish Rail where she was also a member of a number of the Board advisory committees.
