Number of pothole-related breakdowns up by a third, says RAC

The RAC has reported that its patrols attended nearly 30,000 pothole-related breakdowns in 2023, up by 33% compared with 2022. 

There are more than one million potholes on the roads in England, the RAC estimates. It adds that, on average, there are around six potholes per mile on council-controlled roads in England and Wales.
