Compliance with 20mph limits in Wales improve only slightly, figures show

New data released by Transport for Wales last week reveal only a slight further improvement in compliance with 20mph speed limits in January, compared with November 2023. In several areas compliance worsened.

The default speed limit on restricted roads in Wales changed from 30mph to 20mph on 17 September. Drivers were given a “bedding in period” to adjust, and there was publicity in early January for the start of 20mph enforcement during that month.
