Aberdeen sticks to decision to re-route traffic around city centre despite uproar

Councillors have agreed to make permanent the re-routeing of traffic around Aberdeen city centre, despite complaints and petitions. They also ordered temporary suspension of two bus gates.

The new routeing came into force on 1 August 2023. Aberdeen City Council used a permanent Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to establish bus gates at each end of central Union Street. It also used an Experimental TRO to allow cycles, goods vehicles, taxis and private hire vehicles to access central Union...
