Householders in Caerphilly in Wales are volunteering to place sensors in their front windows to count the numbers of passing pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles. It is thought to be the first use of the system in th UK after earlier trials in Cardiff. Council officers say the Telraam equipment, from Belgium, is much cheaper than older survey methods and its use helps to engage communities in the placemaking process.
