A fleet of 20 tram-style buses is now running between Crystal Palace and Orpington powered by a pantograph system, which uses an arm-like structure attached to the vehicle roof. 

Transport for London (TfL) said the new technology, being used on route 358, allows fast, high-power charging of the new buses at each end of the 15-mile journey, which means drivers do not return to garages to recharge.
