The DfT is not doing enough to help councils address the declining state of local roads, says a new report from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Though it gives councils more than £1bn towards road maintenance each year, the DfT does not set out what outcomes it expects from funding or evaluate its impact, according to the report.
