Reading has repaid 5% of parking charges issued in error

Reading Borough Council has refunded around 5% of over 6,000 incorrectly issued penalty charge notices.

The council admitted in October that it had wrongly issued about 6,100 PCNs, mostly on the East Reading Red Route as well as in parking zones, between 2013 and 2024.

Reading has so far paid out on 317 claims and refunded about £56,300. The council has sent 1,250 letters to motorists whose details it still had on file.
