Despite the expansion of bus priority in the capital, bus speeds have actually decreased in all areas of the capital since 2003 and the biggest reductions have been recorded within the congestion charging zone. "In the past year alone there has been a 5% decrease in bus speeds in the original central London charging zone," TfL reports. Speeds on the inner ring road increased by 2% but bus speeds in all other areas of central London decreased by 1-2%.
