Well, in these uncertain times perhaps all of us are feeling a bit vulnerable and a few may be facing redundancy but that’s not what this column is about. These sad words have come to have a rather different technical meaning in the analysis of systems generally, and transport networks in particular, which is increasing in importance and there is a sensible rethink going on about vulnerability and its associated concepts of redundancy, resilience, robustness and adaptation.
