Four cities vie for DfT’s £29m sustainable travel city cash

Four English conurbations and cities have made it onto the shortlist of the DfT’s sustainable travel towns competition but only two are expected to be selected to share the £29m funding pot.

The nine congestion performance fund areas (the six metropolitan areas, Greater Bristol, Nottingham and Leicester) were invited to bid for a share of the three-year funding.

The DfT has now whittled the list down to four: West Midlands, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, and Nottingham.
