For most of the last two years there has been absolute confidence that the Tories would win the general election, and that Theresa Villiers would be the new transport secretary. The narrowing of the polls since the new year has thrown that into doubt, bringing excited talk of a hung Parliament. But the betting exchanges (always the best guide) and most pundits back a Conservative win – albeit with a small majority – and for now I agree.
