Adjustments to traffic light settings have cut vehicle delays in the capital, according to Transport for London’s chief operating officer for streets and traffic.
Garrett Emmerson said 1,003 traffic signal timing reviews had been completed in 2009/10. The ensuing alterations had increased the percentage of occasions when all queued traffic was discharged during the first green light from 71.7% to 77.6%.
