Local Authorities in Greater Manchester are planning to become the first in the country to implement a joint permitting scheme to manage roadworks and utility streetworks.

The ten metropolitan districts were this month ratifying the proposal so that it can be submitted  to the Secretary of State for approval. They hope to launch the scheme in September.
