Appraisal tool boosts case for low-cost public transport projects

A new tool for assessing the value for money of low-cost public transport improvements such as bus priority, real-time information and park-and-ride schemes has been developed for the Passenger Transport Executive Group (pteg).

Pteg hopes the simplified appraisal framework (SAF) will  strengthen the evidence base for projects costing less than £5m, which in England are generally funded from the integrated transport block (ITB) that local authorities receive from the DfT.
