Birmingham bus network to get £25m green fleet

A £25m investment over the next two years will see Birmingham’s bus network get greener vehicles, real-time information at bus stops and a new cashless swipe-card system.

Bus operator National Express and West Midlands (NXWM) and passenger body Centro will invest the cash into more than 300 new low carbon buses supplied by both Alexander-Dennis and Volvo Bus. Infrastructure improvements will include enhanced bus shelters featuring arrival time screens.
