South Tyneside may turn to ‘third sector’

South Tyneside Council is to transfer its parking enforcement operation from contractor APCOA Parking (UK) to a local or ‘third sector’ provider. These are organisations that aim to recruit the long-term unemployed.

The council said the new arrangement would allow it separate management and enforcement services, with the overall running of the service carried out in-house.
