ISA will turn drivers into robots – and harm road safety

There is much I agree with in Andrew Fraser’s letter (ibid) about the drawbacks of speed cameras, but then he spoils it by advocating the use of ISA (Intelligent Speed Adaptation – speed limiters) instead. In my view, ISA would have a greater detrimental effect on road safety than cameras. 

Speed cameras and ISA both have the same fundamental flaw – they assume that absolute (numerical) speed is a significant factor in road accidents. It is not.  What matters is...
