Transport for London has applied to the DfT for the Transport and Works Act Order for the Northern Line extension from Kennington to Battersea via Nine Elms. A public inquiry is likely to be held this autumn. Construction could begin in 2015 with the line opening in 2020 if powers are secured and a funding package is put in place.
