It may be that the first printed use of the phrase ‘peak car’ was in Local Transport Today. Transport Reviews is one of the long-established group of academic journals, ranking in the world-wide top half dozen of the 26 or so journals in transportation. For its latest issue (volume 33, number 3) Gordon Stokes and I have guest-edited a collection of eight rather heavyweight papers which, taken together, give an update of the state of international research on ‘peak car’....
