Rail passengers on the Cardiff Valleys network of lines may have to endure the unpopular Pacer trains for another decade, Welsh Assembly members have been told.
The Class 142/143 Pacer railbuses are the mainstay of local rail services on the Cardiff Valley routes. Built in the mid-1980s at a time when British Rail was cash-strapped they have been criticised for their ride quality, with politicians and rail campaigners urging their withdrawal.
